The Music Department has earned an outstanding reputation for excellence throughout New York State. Our course offerings may be structured for the serious student musician who wishes to obtain a Music degree or post-high school Music training. Music courses are also provided for students who do not wish to major in the field of Music but want to obtain Music experiences for personal enjoyment.

A ‘2024 Best Community For Music Education Designation’ In The United States
The NAMM Foundation each year selects school districts to be recognized as being among the Best Communities for Music Education (BCME). Now in its 23rd year, the awards program recognizes outstanding efforts by teachers, administrators, parents, students and community leaders who have made music education part of the curriculum. Designations are made to districts and schools that demonstrate an exceptionally high commitment and access to music education. These districts and schools set the bar in offering students access to comprehensive music education.
Commack Public Schools has been designated a “Best Community!” This is Commack’s 15th Best Communities for Music Education recognition as the District received this honor in 2002, 2008, and annually since 2011.
