NBC New York’s John Chandler visited CHS on Wednesday to interview senior Francesco D. for an upcoming scholar-athlete feature.

Francesco, a wrestling captain who also plays club ice hockey during the winter season, also is active in philanthropic activities. He aspires to attend a service academy after graduating in June, particularly West Point or the Coast Guard.

Francesco will be featured on an upcoming NBC New York “MVP” segment.

Among his charitable work: Last winter, Francesco organized a coat drive as well as a fundraiser to assist veterans. The coat drive was so succesful, Suffolk County Department of Social Services commissioner John E. Imhof personally came to CHS to thank Francesco.

Also interviewed on Wednesday for the upcoming segment were vice principal Matt Keltos and wrestling assistant coach Justin Yodice.
